MODULE KW05 - CULTURE & KRUGER PARK

DAY 01
Arrival Johannesburg International Airport. The Family van Nieuwkerk and your guide personally meet you. You leave via Johannesburg - "Egoli" - the city of gold! - For Soweto. Soweto is the biggest black township in South Africa. Here you will meet the local people. You will visit the Hector Pietersen Museum, dedicated to the victims of the 1976 unrest in Soweto.
After a traditional lunch in the township, transfer back to Pretoria for a City Tour. You will visit the Voortrekker Monument, Church Square en Paul Kruger's House.
Accommodation: Guesthouse / Lodge in Pretoria.
Meals included: Lunch.

DAY 02
After breakfast, a slide presentation on intercultural communication in South Africa - a country with many different cultures and 11 official languages! Talk presented by Dr Hanneke du Preez, a specialist in this area. (Talk is presented in Dutch).
We travel with the N4 via Witbank and Middelburg towards Mpumalanga to start with the Panorama-route: a visit to Dullstroom and Lydenburg, and from there we move on to Sabie, the centre of the Forestry Industry in SA. After a visit to one of the many waterfalls in the area, you travel to Pilgrim's Rest, a small town that gained fame during the Gold Rush in the 1800's.
The whole town is a living museum. Today's trip will end at the small town of Graskop.

DAY 03
Today we follow the Panorama-route to Blyde River Canyon, God's Window, the Three Rondavels; you will also see Bourke's Luck Potholes.
Late afternoon we enter the famous Kruger National Park at the Orpen Gate.
Game viewing on your way to camp.
Accommodation: Rest camp (Olifants or Satara)
Meals included: Breakfast Graskop Hotel, Dinner rest camp
Meals for your own account: Lunch

DAY 04
Full day game viewing in the Kruger National Park from north to south. See if you can spot the Big Five: Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Leopard, Buffalo.
Tonight, a night drive on an open 4x4 vehicle to see the nocturnal animals.
Accommodation: Rest camp (Skukuza or Lower Sabie)
Meals included: Breakfast and Dinner rest camp
Meals for your own account: Lunch

DAY 05
We get up early for our last game drive. After breakfast we leave the Kruger Park and head back to Johannesburg via Nelspruit and Schoemanskloof.
Your guide will drop you off at the Johannesburg International Airport at 15:00.
