SOUTH AFRICA/BOTSWANA TOUR - 24-DAY
TOUR
ITINERARY
DAY 01
Depart Amsterdam-Johannesburg. Arrive 20:45 by KLM.
You are met by a guide as well as the Van Nieuwkerk
Family. Transfer to guesthouse in Pretoria and brief
information session.
Overnight: Huis en Hard Guesthouse.
DAY 02
Morning free.
This afternoon: Excursion to Mandela Village, north
of Pretoria. After dinner, back to Pretoria.

DAY 03
Depart for the Limpopo Bushveld (previously Northern
Transvaal), travelling in a northerly direction via
Nylstroom-Vaalwater-Melk River. From there in the direction
of Marken to the lovely Shelanti Game Lodge, in the
heart of the Bushveld, where Terence will be expecting
you by late morning. After a light lunch, you are taken
on a game drive - to catch your first view of some of
the country's game species.

DAY 04
Arrive early in the morning at Martin's Drift Border
Post. From there to Nata via Francistown.
Overnight: Nata Lodge. B/D at Nata Lodge.
DAY 05
Visit the Mkgadigadi Pans.
Overnight: Nata Lodge. B/D
DAY 06
To the Vic Falls via Nata - Kasane - Kazangula Border
Post with Zambia.
Overnight: Zambezi Sun Hotel. B
DAY 07
08:00 You are met by Victoria Falls River Safaris for
a boat trip of about 2 hours on the Zambezi river.
Overnight: Zambezi Sun. B
DAY 08
Spending the day free at Victoria Falls.
Overnight: Zambezi Sun. B
DAY 09
Leave Victoria Falls, returning to Kazangula Border
Post; from there to Kasane and Chobe. Lunch is followed
by a game drive in the Chobe National Park.
Overnight: Muchenje Lodge. B/L/D
DAYS 10 and 11
On one of these two days you are taken on a full-day
safari - "picnic' breakfast in the bush, followed
by a boat trip on the Chobe river, with lunch served
on board the boat.
The other day: two game drives, one in the morning and
one in the afternoon.
Overnight: Muchenje Lodge. B/L/D
DAY 12
Another early-morning game drive before you leave Muchenje.
From Kasane to the Ngoma Border Post with Namibia, then
to Lianshulu Lodge on the Kwando river via Katima Mulilo.
Overnight Lianshulu Lodge. B/D
DAY 13
Visit Muduma National Park. Optional excursions: boat
trip on the Kwando river, guided hike in the bush.
Overnight: Lianshulu Lodge. B/D
DAY 14
Depart Lianshulu via Kongola, taking the Caprivi Highway
to Bagani and the Popa Falls.
Overnight: Suclabo Lodge. B/D
DAY 15
Day excursion to the Popa Falls.
Overnight: Suclabo Lodge. B/D
DAY 16
Travel from Suclabo Lodge via Bagani in the direction
of Shakawe. This marks the start of the Okavango Delta
"panhandle". Optional excursion: Boat trip
on the Okavango river
Overnight: Xaro Lodge (at Drotsky's Cabins) in "meru"
tents on the Okavango river. B/D
DAY 17
Early rising for trip to Maun. At 14:00 you are transferred
by light aircraft to Oddballs Camp in the Delta (20
minutes). Extra baggage may be left at the airport.
Overnight: Oddballs Camp. Breakfast at Xaro,
dinner at Oddballs.
DAY 18
You will spend the day with a local guide on a mokoro
excursion, spending the night in tents somewhere in
the wild. Accompanied by your local guide, you will
explore the Delta on foot - and what better way to experience
the wild!
Overnight: Somewhere in the wild. B/L/D
DAY 19
Another early-morning safari, then back to Oddballs
Camp for lunch. If you are interested, your local guide
may take you to his village to see where and how they
live.
Overnight: Oddballs Camp. B/L/D
DAY 20
Early-morning hiking safari, then back to camp for breakfast.
Time free to relax and do some bird watching in camp.
After lunch, your return flight to Maun Airport.
Overnight: Island Safari Lodge, Maun. B/L
DAY 21
After breakfast, depart Maun for Ghanzi.
Overnight: Kalahari Arms Hotel, Ghanzi. B
DAY 22
A long day on the road - from Ghanzi along the Trans
Kgalakghadi Highway to Gaborone (686 kms).
Overnight: Mokolodi Nature Reserve, Gaborone.

DAY 23
From Gaborone in a southerly direction to Lobatse, where
you cross the border into South Africa. Via Zeerust
and Great Marico to Pilanesberg Nature Reserve.
Overnight: Bakubung Lodge. B/D
DAY 24
Pilanesberg Nature Reserve. With enough time to fit
in a visit to Sun City?
Overnight: Bakubung Lodge. B/L
DAY 25
Leave Pilanesberg for Pretoria.
Lunch with Van Nieuwkerk Family.
Your guide takes you back to airport in time for
Flight KL 592 departing 22:40. B/L
DAY 26
Pax arrive AMS.
