NAMIBIA - 21 DAYS

Day 01 Amsterdam - Windhoek
You fly via Johannesburg to Windhoek, the capital of Namibia.

Days 02 and 03 - Windhoek
Arrive Windhoek in the afternoon, transferred to guesthouse, then free for rest of the afternoon. Next day is spent on a tour of the capital with its colourful colonial past. You will visit various historical buildings, e.g. the Christ Church, the Alte Feste Monument and the Tinten Palast.
Overnight at a comfortable guesthouse situated on the outskirts of the city.

Days 04 and 05 Windhoek - Waterberg (B/D)
You will be travelling in a northerly direction via Okahandja, which used to be the centre of Herero activity, currently known for its flea market and large variety of wood carvings. From there to the scenic beauty of the Waterberg Plateau National Park, where a landrover will take you to the top of the mountain for a view of the surrounding area. Encountering a herd of buffalo or other big game on your way is a distinct possibility. Overnight at a restcamp in the Waterberg Plateau Park.

Days 06, 07,08 Waterberg - Etosha (B/D)
On your way to Etosha (Ovambo name, meaning "place of dry waters") you will visit the Hoba meteorite near Tsumeb - with a weight of 60 tons, the biggest meteorite in the world. You enter the game reserve in the afternoon. During the next two days you will be driven through the Park to view the large herds of game, which are fairly easy to spot in the bush and grassland and around the numerous waterholes and salt-pans.
Overnight at restcamps in Etosha or just outside the Park.

Days 09 and 10 Etosha - Twyfelfontein (B/D)
Leaving Etosha, you travel inland via Khorixas to Damaraland. Today and tomorrow will be spent exploring this interesting area, including the Petrified Forest, the Burnt Mountain and, most exciting of all, the excellently preserved San rock paintings at Twyfelfontein.
Overnight 2 x at the splendid Twyfelfontein Lodge.

Days 11 and 12 Twyfelfontein - Swakopmund (B)
Continuing in a westerly direction, you will be travelling towards the Atlantic Ocean, via the seal colony at Cape Cross, to Swakopmund, a popular holiday resort with lovely and well-preserved historical buildings dating back to the German colonial period. Two days to either relax or go on an excursion to Walvis Bay to view the flamingos and pelicans or on a day trip into the desert, past the moon landscape, to look for the fossil plant welwitschia mirabilis, or go on an eco-friendly quad bike experience.
Overnight at a guesthouse close to the beach.

Days 13 and 14 Swakopmund - Sesriem/Sossusvlei (B/D)
You now travel through the oldest desert in the world, the Namib, to one of nature's greatest wonders: the Sesriem Canyon and Sossusvlei, which has the most spectacular sand dunes in the world. Two days to enjoy the unbelievable scenic beauty, watching the sun rise over the dunes, using the opportunity to take as many pictures as you please of the ever-changing colour patterns formed by the dunes.You also have the option of going on a hot-air balloon flight.
Overnight 2 x at the luxurious Sossusvlei Lodge right in the middle of the desert.

Days 15 and 16 Ludertiz Bay (B)
Your travels take you through the desert to the quaint little harbour town of Luderitz Bay. You will also visit the ghost town of Kolmanskop and go in search of the troop of wild horses roaming the desert.
Your hotel is situated high on the rocks.

Days 17 and 18 Luderitz Bay - Fish River Canyon (B/D)
The Fish River Canyon, yet another great wonder of the Namibian landscape and the deepest canyon in the world after the Grand Canyon. Accompanied by your guide, you will go on excursions to the canyon. Overnight at a comfortable lodge on the edge of the canyon.

Day 19 Fish River - Keetmanshoop (B/D)
Leaving the area of the Namib Desert behind you, your journey takes you south again to Keetmanshoop, where you will visit the Quiver-tree Forest and the breathtaking rock formations justly called "the Playground of the Giants".

Days 20 and 21 Keetmanshoop - Kalahari (B/D)
The last two days of your visit are spent in the Kalahari Desert with its typical red-dune ecosystem. You pass through Mariental and Stampriet to reach the 23 ha Intu Africa Kalahari Game Park. Apart from its wide variety of game and bird species, the Park is also the traditional hunting ground of the Bushmen. A member of the !Kung Bushmen community will take you on a hike into the desert, while explaining some of their traditional hunting and survival techniques.
Overnight in a luxurious tent camp in the middle of the desert.

Day 22 Windhoek - Amsterdam
Back to the Windhoek airport for your return flight to Amsterdam

Day 23 Amsterdam
Arrival Schiphol. End of trip.
